Build a Safer World.

TRM Labs provides AI-powered intelligence solutions that help public and private sector agencies investigate and disrupt crime. TRM's platforms enable investigators to trace illicit activity, build cases, and construct operating pictures of threat networks. Leading agencies and businesses worldwide rely on TRM to make the world safer and more secure.

As a Global Investigator on the triage team, you are the first line of operational response in a fast-moving crypto disruption pipeline. You process inbound victim complaints, validate the output of our AI investigation tooling, and route cases into the investigative workflows that lead to frozen scam proceeds, takedowns, and recovered assets. You hold the disposition pen: your call is what turns a complaint into a freeze, an escalation, a recovery handoff, a victim notification, or a close.

The impact you will have:

Validate and route hundreds of complaint dispositions each week, feeding a live asset-recovery pipeline that gets stolen funds frozen before they move.

Use AI first-pass output as a co-pilot and catch the errors that matter, such as false positives, merged syndicates, and misclassified scam patterns, before they propagate downstream.

Enrich complaint selectors with a broad stack of commercial data-source integrations and on-chain and off-chain checks to decide what is actionable.

Own clean shift handoffs so the around-the-clock operation never drops a lead, keeping the US-hours queue moving for the rest of the triage team.

Feed structured signal back to engineering on where the AI triage model misses, so it gets more precise every week.

What we’re looking for:

Investigative or analytical experience in the private or public sector. 1-3 years is fine; we want people who want to grow into deep crypto expertise.

Strong AI fluency, meaning comfort using AI tools as a daily co-pilot to work a high-volume queue, with the judgment to know when the output is wrong.

Baseline crypto knowledge and the ability to recognize threat types such as investment scams, pig-butchering, and ransomware, and comfort pairing that with AI-assisted analysis.

Able to prioritize and work independently, with clear written handoffs, during hours when the rest of the team is offline.

Receptive to feedback from experienced tracers and engineers, and motivated to improve the triage process rather than only clear tickets.

US Citizenship required

Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance

About the Team:

The team pairs seasoned crypto tracers with rising investigators. Triage investigators sit alongside experienced Global Investigators and intelligence-trained individual contributors, and the seat is built to accelerate your development toward deeper tracing work.

The work is operationally hard: high volume, real victims, and time-sensitive calls where a fast, accurate disposition can be the difference between funds frozen and funds gone.

Team Operating Rhythms:

Primary coverage during US business hours in your local time zone, holding triage throughput while colleagues in other regions are offline.

Distributed, not distant: async-first handoffs, clear written updates, and tight coordination with global teammates on time-sensitive items.

Required online and collaboration hours:

Schedule: Standard North American EST business hours preferred, with overlap for daily handover to and from other regions.

On-Call Responsibilities:

Schedule: Formal on-call rotation for high-priority events, such as active hacks, law-enforcement support, and other time-sensitive matters.

Frequency: Weekly rotation, with occasional weekend coverage; remote standby (free to go about your day and respond when paged), not worksite-bound.

Travel Requirements:

Schedule: Minimal; occasional team or mission offsites.

Onsite Requirements:

Distributed/remote role with no routine onsite requirement.

Learn about TRM Speed in this position:

Within your first 30 days, you are clearing live complaint surges end to end, turning raw victim reports into actionable freezes and escalations the same day they arrive.

Within 90 days, your prioritization calls are routinely accepted by Global Investigators, measurably shortening the time between a report landing and funds being frozen.

Each week, your feedback to engineering sharpens the AI triage model, so the whole team catches more recoverable cases with less manual review.
