Breakmark is hiring a Head of Forward Deployed Engineering for an AI company building software for complex operational environments. Its teams work directly with enterprise and government customers, turning fragmented data and difficult real-world problems into systems used in live operations.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role. You’ll own customer deployments from discovery through go-live, write and ship production code, and help a growing team of forward deployed engineers develop strong technical and customer judgment.

What you’ll do

Work alongside customers to understand their operations and turn ambiguous needs into working software.

Build focused demos, test ideas early, and ship full-stack features for production use.

Translate field requirements into clear specifications for engineering teams.

Decide which customer solutions should become reusable product capabilities.

Coach engineers on scoping, delivery, customer communication, and technical decisions.

Partner with product, machine learning, infrastructure, and engineering teams to deliver successful deployments.

What we’re looking for

5+ years in forward deployed engineering, field engineering, or a similar customer-facing engineering role.

Strong full-stack skills with TypeScript and React, plus Python or Node.js.

Experience shipping production software for customers.

Confidence working directly with enterprise stakeholders, including on-site when needed.

The ability to lead and coach others while remaining active in the codebase.

Experience with AI products, enterprise deployments, or operationally complex industries is a plus.
