Job Description: Hotel Breakfast Associate

Job summary

Our breakfast associates are responsible for delivering remarkable hospitality every morning, both through the food they serve and the interactions they have with every guest. Breakfast associates are typically the only associate on shift in the food and beverage department, balancing food preparation and guest engagement while maintaining a clean, safe and compliant food safety environment at all times. Breakfast associates are essential to identifying and resolving guest issues before guests check out so we can ensure every guest leaves satisfied.

Job responsibilities

Greet every guest who enters the breakfast area in a professional, courteous manner.

Cook and prepare breakfast food and beverage products as directed and trained, and completely tear down and clean all areas at the end of each shift.

Work with the front desk to anticipate breakfast demand and minimize food waste while ensuring that we never run out of product during posted breakfast hours.

Quickly clean vacated tables so they’re ready for other guests, and maintain clean buffet and beverage areas at all times.

Adhere to all food safety protocols communicated during training, through written procedures, and through third party training.

Complete food, refrigerator and freezer temperature logs in accordance with local health department regulations.

Accept and put away foodservice deliveries, check off delivery documents to identify and document any delivery errors, and rotate product so that the oldest product is used first.

Identify any items that we need to order, and communicate to team members responsible for ordering to ensure we don’t run out of product.

Actively ask guests about any issues they’ve encountered during their stay and initiate problem resolution procedures if any defect is discovered.

Complete and retain training as directed by managers/trainers, including food safety training, brand training, company training and in-person instruction. Note taking is encouraged.

Communicate and collaborate with other hotel departments including housekeeping and maintenance to ensure a seamless guest experience.

Attend mandatory company meetings and trainings as directed by hotel management.

Handle other tasks and responsibilities as needed/directed by hotel management.

Qualifications

A positive attitude and a commitment to working as part of a small team.

Passionate about delivering excellent guest service in every guest interaction.

Committed to vigorously following food safety protocols and procedures.

Previous food experience is a benefit but not required.

Comfortable working as the only food and beverage employee during most shifts.

Able to consistently arrive at work on time and fully complete scheduled shifts to avoid creating extra unexpected work for other team members.

Flexible schedule – able to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays (weekend/holiday availability required). Changes in schedule availability from what was discussed during the hiring process may result in a reduction of scheduled shifts.

Early starts – available to start work as early as 5am as needed.

Ability to multitask and handle multiple responsibilities at once.

Excellent communication skills (important both for guests and internal collaboration).

Able to handle stressful situations and solve problems in a calm, professional manner.

Physically able to perform all responsibilities including but not limited to standing for an entire shift, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Able to successfully pass a drug test and background check.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily and with or without reasonable accommodation.

The company may use personality profile data (Predictive Index, DISC, etc.) as part of the hiring process. Participation in these assessments is required for consideration for employment.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive hourly wage (this is a non-exempt hourly position).

Performance reviews with raise eligibility at six months, 12 months, then annually.

Quarterly bonus plan with revenue sharing and team performance incentives.

Health, vision and dental insurance for full-time (30+ hours per week) employees.

Paid time off for full-time employees.
