Lakeside Hotel & Conference Centre is seeking a full-time receptionist to join our friendly and professional Front Office team at our North Ryde campus.

  • Salary Package: $62,830 per annum plus employer's superannuation
  • Appointment Type: Full time, continuing appointment

This is an exciting opportunity for a hospitality professional who enjoys working in a dynamic environment, delivering exceptional guest experiences and being involved in a broad range of hotel operations.

About the Role

As a receptionist, you will be one of the first points of contact for our guests and clients. You will play an important role in ensuring every guest receives a warm welcome, professional service and a positive experience throughout their stay.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide a warm, professional and welcoming experience to all guests, visitors and clients.
  • Manage guest arrivals and departures, including efficient check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Process reservations, amendments, cancellations and guest requests accurately.
  • Respond professionally and promptly to guest enquiries in person, by telephone and via email.
  • Process accommodation, restaurant and other guest payments accurately and in accordance with hotel procedures.
  • Manage cash, EFTPOS and credit card transactions and complete required financial procedures.
  • Maintain accurate guest profiles, reservations, records and documentation within the hotel PMS.
  • Monitor and manage guest requests, ensuring they are followed through to completion.
  • Liaise closely with Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Functions, Maintenance and other departments to ensure smooth hotel operations.
  • Assist with group bookings, conferences, functions and university-related accommodation requirements.
  • Provide information to guests regarding hotel facilities, services, local attractions and transportation.
  • Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally, escalating matters where appropriate and following through to resolution.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the guest experience and support repeat business.
  • Maintain a high standard of presentation, professionalism and customer service at all times.
  • Follow hotel policies, procedures and operational standards.
  • Complete daily Front Office procedures, reports and administrative tasks accurately.
  • Support night audit and financial reconciliation processes where required.
  • Ensure appropriate security, emergency, WH&S and risk-management procedures are followed.
  • Assist with general hotel operations and other reasonable duties as required.

ABOUT YOU

You are someone who believes the core of hospitality is customer service and possess a friendly and approachable manner. You are great at multi-tasking, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and can think on your feet to solve problems.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in a customer-facing or customer-service role (experience in hospitality or a related service industry is preferred).
  • A genuine commitment to excellent customer service and the ability to remain calm and resolve problems in challenging situations.
  • Strong organisational, time-management and attention-to-detail skills, including the ability to maintain accurate records and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Experience handling cash, EFTPOS, credit card transactions and daily financial reconciliation.
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite of programs; experience using Opera Cloud PMS or another hotel property management system is highly regarded.

Previous hotel Front Office or Reception experience, including knowledge of reservations, check-in/check-out and Front Office procedures, as well as experience in a conference, events or functions environment is highly desirable.

*** The successful candidate must hold a current NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) competency card and unrestricted full work rights in Australia, and will be required to undergo a police check.

Please note: This role requires the ability to work across AM, PM, weekend and occasional night shifts. Full flexibility is essential.
