Summary

This vacancy is for a GS-1173-7, Housing Management Assistant located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SECTOR NORTH CAROLINA ADMIN/PERSONNEL DIVISION in ATLANTIC BEACH, North Carolina.

Duties

You will serve as a Housing Management Assistant. This position administers, operates, and manages Coast Guard-owned and leased housing for Sector North Carolina, Sector Field Office Fort Macon, supported cutter crews, East District detachments, and designated SMTC personnel at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. The position provides housing program guidance to supported units across a geographically dispersed area that includes multiple communities within the Sector's boundaries. . Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Serve as the primary representative for all Sector NC housing matters, managing vacancies and assignments for Coast Guard-owned, leased, and unaccompanied personnel housing (UPH) barracks. Administer housing lease contracts, including monitoring terms, processing modifications, and coordinating renewals. Evaluate housing operations and maintenance issues; develop recommendations and justifications for required funding, personnel, and material resources. Prepare and submit housing reports to the Area Housing Authority; maintain HMIS data integrity and analyze housing trends to support program decisions. Conduct housing inspections and manage check-in/check-out processes for UPH barracks and leased housing; support inspections of Coast Guard-owned Outer Banks housing. Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-07 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Managing housing assignments, occupancy rates, vacancy tracking, and inventories of government-owned, leased, and barracks facilities in accordance with federal housing policies. Executing, monitoring, modifying, and renewing complex real property leases while ensuring compliance with federal acquisition requirements and budget limitations. Analyzing housing operations to identify deficiencies and implementing resource strategies that improve funding, personnel allocation, and material management. Maintaining accurate housing data in HMIS or comparable enterprise systems, analyzing trends, and preparing executive-level reports to support leadership decisions. Inspecting facilities and administering resident check-in and check-out procedures to ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and property-accountability standards.
