Job Title: Human Resources Generalist
Location: Minneola Healthcare, Minneola, KS
Job Type: Full-time
JOB SUMMARY:
Coordinates and supports the daily functions of the Human Resources department for the hospital, rural health clinics, long-term care, and swing bed services. Responsible for employee recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management support, policy administration, compliance monitoring, personnel record maintenance, training coordination. Ensures compliance with federal and state employment laws, healthcare regulations, and organizational policies while promoting a positive workplace culture.
JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

Interrelationships: Department Directors, Managers, Employees, Medical Staff, Educational Institutions, Regulatory Agencies, Legal Counsel, and Human Resources Consultants
RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:
Coordinate recruitment and hiring activities including job postings, applicant screening, interview scheduling, reference checks, and pre-employment requirements.
Facilitate new employee onboarding and orientation programs.
Maintain employee personnel files and human resources records in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Process and maintain employee status changes, compensation updates, transfers, promotions, and terminations.
Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Assist with administration of Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and leave of absence programs.
Maintain and update human resources policies, procedures, and employee handbook provisions.
Provide guidance to managers and employees regarding human resources policies and employment practices.
Assist department leaders with performance management processes, coaching recommendations, corrective action documentation, and employee development initiatives.
Participate in employee relations investigations and resolution of workplace concerns.
Coordinate employee recognition, retention, wellness, and engagement activities.
Monitor required employee licenses, certifications, education, and compliance training requirements.
Prepare reports related to staffing, turnover, vacancies, benefits, worker's compensation, and other human resources metrics.
Assist with wage surveys, compensation analysis, and workforce planning activities.
Support accreditation, regulatory, and compliance audits related to human resources functions.
Maintain confidentiality of employee, applicant, and organizational information.
Assist with payroll-related activities and employee timekeeping processes as needed.
Support emergency preparedness, disaster response, and organizational continuity efforts as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of human resources principles, practices, employment laws, and healthcare workforce regulations.
Strong understanding of employee recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, and performance management practices.
Knowledge of federal and state employment regulations including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, COBRA, OSHA, and EEOC requirements.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of progressively responsible human resources experience preferred.
Experience in healthcare human resources preferred.
Experience with employee recruitment, benefits administration, employee relations, compliance, and personnel record management required.
Experience with human resources information systems, payroll systems, and benefits administration strongly preferred.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is primarily performed in an office environment within the hospital and clinic setting.
Regular interaction with employees, leadership, medical staff, applicants, vendors, regulatory agencies, and community representatives.
Frequent use of computers, human resources software, payroll systems, electronic records, and communication tools.
Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee and organizational information.
Participation in employee meetings, training sessions, committee meetings, and community events as needed.
Occasional travel between hospital-owned facilities, clinics, and training locations may be required.
May be required to respond to employee concerns or organizational needs outside of normal business hours.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer and performing administrative duties.
Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout hospital and clinic facilities.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
Ability to operate standard office equipment, computers, telephones, and communication devices.
Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication methods.
