PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, the Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end design, implementation, and administration of enterprise IT infrastructure solutions. This includes server and storage platforms, cloud environments, networking, and cybersecurity controls across both on-premises and cloud-based systems.

The role plays a critical part in ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of client and internal IT environments, while supporting ongoing operational excellence, project delivery, and service improvement initiatives.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Design, implement, and maintain enterprise IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, virtualization, and cloud platforms

Provide day-to-day operational support across infrastructure environments, ensuring high availability and performance

Monitor system performance, capacity, and reliability, implementing proactive improvements where required

Support deployment and management of Microsoft enterprise platforms (e.g., Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure)

Administer virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and data centre infrastructure

Manage backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions across client environments

Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls, including endpoint protection, identity management, and network security

Support network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, routing, switching, and SD-WAN environments

Participate in project delivery activities, including solution deployment, migration, and upgrades

Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related incidents in line with agreed SLAs and escalation procedures

Maintain system documentation, operational procedures, and configuration standards

Engage with vendors and technology partners for support, procurement, and solution optimization

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational governance practices

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline

Minimum 3–5+ years’ experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, or technical support roles

Strong technical knowledge of:

Server and storage systems

Virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)

Microsoft enterprise environments (Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure)

Networking fundamentals (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs)

Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions

Exposure to cybersecurity frameworks and best practices

Experience supporting enterprise or managed services environments

Familiarity with ITIL or structured service management frameworks

Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capability

Microsoft Certified (e.g., Azure Administrator, Windows Server)

VMware Certification (VCP or equivalent)

Cisco (CCNA/CCNP) or equivalent networking certification

Fortinet or other security vendor certifications

Strong attention to detail and commitment to service quality

Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Customer-focused mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Strong documentation and reporting discipline
