Summary

About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 780th Military Intelligence Brigade, 781st Military Intelligence Battalion, located at Fort Meade, Maryland

Duties

  • Serves as a Cryptologic Cyberspace Operations Specialist/Digital Network Exploitation Analyst (DNEA) for the 780th MI BDE, 781st MI BN.
  • Conducts computer (network and infrastructure) analysis to enable Cyber Warfare effects in support of national and theater intelligence requirements.
  • Leverages information derived from a variety of Computer Network Defense and Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) resources to identify events that occur or may occur on computer networks.
  • Performs initial and advanced analysis to establish target identification and operational patterns.
  • Exploits media and investigates computer security incidents.
  • Operates automated data processing (ADP) equipment for analysis, processing and reporting.
  • Develops, maintains, and reviews analytic working aids and databases to support target collection, identification, and location.
  • Performs analysis in support of Cyber Network Operations and Cyber Warfare plans, strategies and operations for the control and application of cyber capabilities.
  • Provides support to planning activities which include threat research and analysis, all-source fusion, threat documentation, defining intelligence requirements, collection management facilitation, interagency collaboration and coordination.
  • Assists with integrating Cyberspace Operations capabilities into operations/exercise design and integrating/synchronizing Cyber-related effects.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one (1) year of experience equivalent to at least the GG/GS-12 grade level, or equivalent, which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Conducting Signals Intelligence (SIGINT)/Computer Network Exploitation (CNE) analysis to identify, assess, report, and brief on foreign computer network capabilities, vulnerabilities, and personalities; performing threat research and all-source intelligence fusion to integrate cyber capabilities, effects, or requirements into operational plans, strategies, or exercise designs; and, coordinating with cross-functional working groups to produce time-sensitive event briefs or threat reports for command staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GG/GS-12). Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.
