JIB Accountant

Position Summary

A Joint Interest Billing (“JIB”) accountant is needed within the JIB/AR group to support the Accounting Department. This person would report to the Accounting Manager and is located in Downtown Houston, TX. Level and salary commensurate with experience.

Essential Job Functions

• •Assist with monthly joint interest billing process
• •Process monthly rebills as required
• •Apply cash for accounts receivable payments
• •Resolve owner inquiries
• •Prepare and record journal entries related to JIB accounts as required
• •Prepare account reconciliations, complete JI Audit requests and maintain SOX compliance
• •Assist with special projects or other accounting related assignments as requested

Minimum Qualifications

• •Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related degree
• •Strong analytical skills
• •Strong Excel skills
• •Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring accuracy
• •Ability to communicate effectively within all areas of the organization
• •Proficient in Microsoft Office applications specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

• •Oil and gas accounting experience
• •Experience with Enertia, OpenInvoice, and EnergyLink systems
• •Ability to think creatively and bring ideas to improve processes
• •Strong team building skills
