ABOUT US

The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. Lakes Salvos Food Market Team

Join the Lakes Salvos Food Market team and help our community put food on the table.

Do you want to see families able to put food on the table? Do you want to see seniors, people with a disability and those on low income be able to access the food they need but cannot afford?

Would you like to help people be able to receive the care and support they need?

If so, come and join our team!

Volunteering with us will not only bring hope to others, but it will also bring you the blessing of being part of a team where you will feel valued and know that you are making a difference in the lives of others.

What are we doing that you could be involved in?

Our Food Market provides free fruit, veg and bread as well as cheap groceries to our community in need. It is set up as a small shop where customers are greeted and welcomed with respect and can shop for groceries which they can afford.

What would you be doing?

There are several exciting opportunities depending on whether you would like to assist with the sorting and display of stock we receive, pricing of stock using our colour system, greeting customers, serving customers, re-stocking fridges and shelves, chatting to customers or unloading the deliveries we receive from Oz Harvest, Foodbank and Coles 2nd Bite.

The reward?

Every step of the way you will be part of a team where you will be supported and feel that what you are doing makes a difference to others.

Why do we do this?

We believe every person is loved by God and everything we do is to bring people this love and hope.

Together we can support those most affected by the cost-of-living crisis.

Development opportunities with this role:

This role will give volunteers an opportunity to develop skills and build experience in retail practices, valuations of donations, sorting and stocking of shelves, as well as experience in working as a part of a team. Volunteers will receive on the job training and support, working alongside experience retail professionals in a caring and supportive environment. As an extra bonus, volunteers have access to professional development training.

The Salvation Army is an Equal Opportunity Employer who provides an inclusive work environment and embraces the diverse talent of its people. We value and include people of all cultures, languages, abilities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions and intersex status. We are committed to achieving a diverse workforce and strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The Salvation Army is a child safe organisation and is committed to protecting children and young people from harm. All child related roles will require the successful completion of a Working with Children Check. Additionally, certain volunteer roles may require a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.

We value Integrity, Compassion, Respect, Diversity, and Collaboration.
