The Opportunity
Are you eager to build a career in payroll and HR systems while learning from an experienced team? AMA is looking for a Junior Payroll/HRIS Coordinator to join our Human Resources team in a hybrid role where you'll gain hands-on experience supporting payroll processes, maintaining employee data, and helping ensure payroll is completed accurately and on schedule. We're looking for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and excited to learn, whether you're a recent graduate or early in your payroll career. If you enjoy working with systems, solving problems, supporting employees, and building a strong foundation in payroll and HRIS, we'd love to hear from you.
Whether you're a recent graduate, working toward your PCP designation, or looking to take your first step into payroll, we'll provide the training, support, and exposure needed to help you build a successful payroll career.

How You’ll Make an Impact
- Support day-to-day payroll administration duties, including processing biweekly payroll in a timely and accurate manner using Workday Payroll.
- Receive hands-on training and mentorship from an experienced payroll team, including exposure to:
- Full payroll processing cycle (pre-processing reports, payroll audits, and period-end activities)
- Records of Employment (ROEs) and employee payroll documentation
- Payroll adjustments, absence corrections, and data validation
- Year-end payroll processes and reporting
- Payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Assist with payroll calculations and data validation, including earnings, overtime, bonuses, allowances, and statutory deductions under the guidance of the payroll team.
- Validate payroll results through audits, reconciliations, and exception reporting.
- Support payroll audits and reconciliations to help ensure accurate tax withholdings, deductions, and payroll processing.
- Learn and apply payroll policies, procedures, and legislative requirements while supporting a compliant payroll process.
- Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and year-end activities, including support for T4/T4A preparation.
- Stay current with payroll legislation and Workday payroll functionality.
What You Bring to the Table
- Recent completion of a diploma, certificate, or degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting, Payroll, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for payroll analysis and reporting.
- Prior hands-on payroll administration experience considered an asset.
- Working towards or completion of Canadian Payroll Association certification (PCP or equivalent) preferred.
- Foundational knowledge of Canadian payroll concepts and employment legislation, or a willingness to learn.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to deliver effective service to employees and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
