Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Receive and inventory biological samples to be analyzed in the laboratory with limited supervision.
- Maintain storage of biological samples ensuring the samples are stored securely and under appropriate conditions.
- Support laboratory activity through assisting with sample handling, preparation, and verification of sample identity.
- Prepare laboratory reagents following written procedures.
- Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, maintaining supplies and calling for repairs.
- Document laboratory activity in accordance with established procedures.
- Perform quality checks of scientific data by following standardized instructions within written operating procedures.
- Generate and review Data Tables for inclusion in reports.
- Verify data entries into computerized systems for accuracy of entry.
The minimum qualifications for this role are:
- Minimum of 0-2 years of experience. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
- Must possess knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), GLPs, SOPs, Guidelines, a basic understanding OSHA regulations and procedures of the safe handling of chemicals.
- Must possess good communication and writing skills. Must possess the ability to multi-task and be accurate and precise. Must possess computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Instrumentation software.
- Ability to read and interpret general business documents. Ability to write routine reports and general business correspondence. Ability to work with peers and communicate basic concepts.
- Ability to perform computations such as percentages, ratios, and rates.
- Ability to solve practical problems through standardized solutions that require limited judgment. Ability to follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve routine problems.
- Typically sitting at a desk or table. Intermittently sitting, standing, walking, or stooping. May be required to stand; walk; stoop; bend; kneel; and climb steps. May require use of hands and use of arms. Sedentary lifting requirements.
- Normal laboratory situation. Regular exposure to chemicals, solvents, fumes, and/or gases.
- Normal office situation
- Proficiency in speaking, comprehending, reading and writing English is required.
