Under the general supervision of the Director of the Laboratory, the Medical Laboratory Technician performs a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests on body fluids and substances, requiring independent judgment, with speed and accuracy. The efforts of the individual(s) in this position, in collaboration with other health care professionals, provide data for the most accurate diagnosis or individual treatment of diseases for optimum patient outcomes.

The successful candidate:

Education/Experience Level

Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology OR degree in Medical Laboratory/Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited program required

Certification required (ASCP, AMT or AAB) or eligible to take exam. Must successfully complete certification (ASCP, AMT, or AAB) within 18 months of completed graduation from

an accredited college or university.

Prefer a minimum of one year of experience in a hospital or clinical setting

Knowledge and Skills

Computer skills, printers, fax machines, phone system operation and photocopier

Possess both a working and theoretical knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and

procedures
