Description
Compensation: $43,000+ depending on experience
Did you know that Ryan Lawn & Tree is a $100M+ professional Lawn & Landscape company? We've built one of the most respected lawn and tree care companies in the Midwest — and serve customers across Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. We're on a mission to raise the bar for our entire industry — attracting exceptional people, treating them right, and doing work that leaves a mark on every community we touch.
Become the Lawn Detective Homeowners Can't Live Without.
Some people see a struggling lawn. You see a mystery waiting to be solved. You know that the right diagnosis, the right application, and the right care can turn a problem property into a neighborhood showpiece — and you take real pride in making that happen.
At Ryan Lawn & Tree, we're looking for a Turf Trainee who's ready to be both a skilled technician and a trusted advisor — the person homeowners call when their lawn needs saving and the person who delivers results that actually last.
What You'll Do
- Own your route. Manage a route of 400–500 customers, delivering consistent, high-quality service on every visit.
- Diagnose and solve. Identify lawn problems others can't see and prescribe specific solutions that actually work for each individual property.
- Deliver the full package. Complete turf bid requests, fertilization applications, aeration, seeding, and service calls across your customer base.
- Be the expert. Develop a thorough knowledge of turfgrass practices as well as all other Ryan services so you can be a true resource for your customers.
- Build relationships. Provide excellent account management and customer service — earning the trust of homeowners who take pride in their outdoor spaces.
Requirements
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Experience in horticulture, landscaping, customer service, or a related field preferred
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in agronomy, turfgrass, or agricultural sciences is a plus
- Valid driver's license; ability to obtain DOT certification, pass a background check and drug screening
- Ability to obtain and maintain a state-issued pesticide applicator license (turfgrass) within 3 months
- A curious, problem-solving mindset and a genuine love for the outdoors
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to walk, stand, and push/pull equipment for extended periods, including up to 3 miles per day in the field
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, year-round
** SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION: This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the operation of vehicles and equipment. All candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen (including marijuana), criminal background check, MVR check, and DOT physical (where applicable) before starting employment. Candidates must meet all screening requirements as a condition of employment.
We hire great people for our employee-owned company. As a member of our team, you'll become a partner in the highest-quality lawn and tree company in the Midwest.
