Lead Electrical Design Engineer.

Are you ready to lead the design and delivery of complex electrical and electronic systems used across the global energy industry?

Would you like to apply your technical expertise and project ownership skills while working directly with international customers and multidisciplinary engineering teams?

Partner with the best

Baker Hughes stands as a leading global energy‑technology company, delivering innovative solutions that make energy safer, cleaner, and more efficient across the entire value chain. Operating in more than 120 countries, the company blends deep industrial expertise with advanced engineering and digital technologies to support energy production, transformation, and decarbonization. With over a century of heritage, Baker Hughes partners with customers in oil and gas, industrial sectors, and emerging energy markets to accelerate progress toward a more sustainable energy future.

Fuel your passion

As a Lead Electrical Design Engineer, you will join a global engineering team responsible for delivering advanced electrical and electronic control system solutions for complex industrial and energy applications. You will take ownership of engineering activities from concept through delivery, independently managing your technical workstreams while collaborating with internal stakeholders, customers and external engineering partners. In this role, you will be trusted to plan and execute engineering tasks with minimal supervision, identify technical risks, define priorities and drive solutions to completion. You may support both Baker Hughes projects and outsourced engineering programs, working directly with customers and supplier organizations in an international environment. Working alongside engineering teams across the UK, Poland and Vietnam, you will contribute to the successful delivery of customer-focused solutions while applying your technical expertise to increasingly complex engineering challenges. This is a design-focused engineering role and not an installation, maintenance, or field service position.

As a Lead Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical oversight, running design reviews, guiding engineers, assuring standards compliance and acting as key technical contact for projects
  • Delivering electrical/electronic engineering designs, analyses and calculations in line with company, client and international standards.
  • Producing, reviewing and maintaining engineering documentation ( Design Specifications , schematics, SLDs, wiring diagrams, specs, test procedures, BOMs).
  • Ensuring on‑time delivery of high‑quality engineering packages with full safety and compliance.
  • Responding to technical queries and support workshop/offshore activities and investigations.
  • Performing root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions for design issues.
  • Supporting development of power, control, communication and electronic/PCBA systems.
  • Supporting on-site and off-site test set-ups, testing, fault finding and investigations.
  • Collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams and promoting best engineering practice.

To be successful in this role you will:

Bring demonstrated leadership in decision‑making, mentoring, technical governance, and coordination of engineering delivery.

  • Have a bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic/Controls Engineering with strong theory foundation.
  • Have proven experience with electrical/electronic design, AC/DC systems, analogue/digital electronics and component selection.
  • Have confidence working in an international team, fluent English is a requirement as well as strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills with capability to write clear documentation.
  • Be able to create and interpret schematics, SLDs, wiring diagrams and product documentation.
  • Have knowledge of IEC, CE and other relevant international standards plus risk, EHS and QA processes.
  • Have knowledge of EMC Testing (but not essential)
  • Preferably bring experience in one of the following: AutoCAD, PLM, Creo, Altium tools and relevant analysis software (but not essential)
  • Be flexible, collaborative and able to support manufacturing, testing and offshore/workshop tasks when required.
