Dale Howard Auto of Iowa Falls is looking for an experienced Lead Technician to lead a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment! If you're ready to drive excellence, ensure top-tier service, and elevate shop performance, we want you on our team. Monday - Friday hours and an air conditioned shop!!

Purpose of the Position:

The Lead Technician plays a key role in supporting the service department by providing technical expertise, leadership, and daily coordination of the technician team. This position focuses on maintaining workflow efficiency, ensuring quality repairs, and driving accountability through daily goals and communication.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Help mentor, support & develop fellow technicians through technical support and guidance

Participate and help lead daily Fixed Operations team huddles

Monitor shop workflow & work in process goals

Ensure quality and efficiency in work completed and departmental processes

Responsible for helping establish, track and monitor team members performance goals

Continuous improvement and professional development

Daily Tasks:

Lead the morning technician huddle to review daily objectives, assignments, and priorities.

Monitor technicians’ progress throughout the day, ensuring daily work-in-process (WIP) goals are met.

Serve as the first point of contact for technical guidance and troubleshooting.

Support the Service & Parts Manager and Service Advisor in distributing work fairly and efficiently among technicians.

Ensures team members are tracking and reporting their daily performance measurable(s)

Review repair orders for accuracy, efficiency, and quality control before completion.

Mentor and coach team members to support skills development and productivity.

Provide feedback to the Service Manager on technician performance, shop workflow, and process improvements.

Ensure a safe, organized, and professional work environment in the service shop.

Assist with diagnostic and complex repair work as needed.

Promote teamwork, accountability, and a culture of customer-first service.

  • Stay current with OEM training and new technologies.
  • Model professional development and continuous improvement for the team.

Understanding and Using Business Knowledge focuses on applying technical knowledge, updating necessary training and certifications, and using knowledge of dealership operations. This includes the ability to apply the appropriate technical knowledge necessary to complete automotive repairs and services. This involves understanding and applying appropriate technical knowledge and experience to perform automotive services including maintenance, diagnosis and repair, and installation effectively using dealership resources, such as tools, electronic and driveability equipment, to perform the job. Other skills include assisting in controlling costs and executing dealership policies and procedures to ensure customer loyalty.

Physical Requirements:

Moving about the dealership to complete auto service and repair

Using hand and/or power tools and equipment consistent with industry standards

Standing for 6 to 9 hours in a shift

Normal color vision and depth perception. Visual acuity correctable to 20/20

Ability to read information from printed sources and computer screens

Frequent bending, stretching, lifting, reaching, and climbing

Utilizing physical and manual dexterity, repetitive hand movements

Lifting up to 70 lbs unassisted. Assisting other employees to lift heavier objects

Qualifications:

High school diploma or the equivalent

Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information

Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Maintains certifications or licenses required by state law

Maintains certifications or training completion as required by vehicle manufacturer

Completion of technical school or other form of instruction or training

Owns tools required to perform repairs and services

Regular Schedule:

Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 5:30 pm
