Job Description:
The Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences (YGCAS) at the University of Baltimore invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Legal Studies. The position is a full-time, one-year renewable contract appointment, 9.5-month faculty position, with a 4/4 teaching load. The position is available beginning Fall 2027 and is subject to final budget approval by the President of the University.
Responsibilities:
- We seek a student-oriented colleague with a demonstrated commitment to collaboration across programs and an ability to teach all levels of graduate and undergraduate law-related courses.
- In addition to instruction, this position will be responsible for co-instruction and co-supervision of legal studies related internships. The selectee will also assist in implementing our newly launched program, Law, Philosophy, and History (LPH) BA, the only humanities-based interdisciplinary pre-law program in the state of Maryland, including development and recruitment for that program, as well as providing similar help for the existing Legal Studies MA.
- The position will also take a faculty advisory role for UBalt’s competitive mock trial team and engaging in other activities to enhance prelaw at UBalt.
- Faculty members in YGCAS contribute to program and curriculum development, maintain a professional practice or creative/research agenda, and participate in university service and other areas of faculty responsibility.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Successful candidates will have a JD from an accredited institution. Relevant teaching experience is required.
- The position requires professional accomplishments and evidence of teaching ability in both theory and process appropriate for classroom and online instruction at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who possess advanced degrees in philosophy, history, or other related fields and to those who have some experience practicing law.
