Are you an experienced machinist who takes pride in precision workmanship and solving mechanical challenges? Atlantic Valve Services (AVS) is seeking a skilled Machinist II to support the repair, restoration, and machining of critical valve components used across the power generation, pharmaceutical, chemical, refining, manufacturing, and industrial markets.
This is not a high-volume production machining environment. Our machinists perform specialized repair and restoration work on valve bodies, trim, actuators, and related components, helping customers return critical equipment to service safely and efficiently.

Atlantic Valve Services (AVS) is a full-service safety relief and control valve repair center supporting customers throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region. We are a premier service provider for Emerson/Fisher control valves and an authorized assembler of Anderson Greenwood, Crosby, and Kunkle pressure relief valves.
In addition to safety relief valves, our experienced technicians repair all types of control valves, including sliding stem and rotary valves, as well as isolation valves such as gate, globe, ball, butterfly, and check valves. AVS also provides valve cleaning, diagnostics, upgrades, modifications, testing, calibration, and field services for critical industrial facilities.
Our work helps keep manufacturing plants, energy facilities, pharmaceutical companies, refineries, food production facilities, and industrial operations running safely and efficiently.

What You'll Do
As a Machinist II, you will perform precision machining and repair operations on valve components, tooling, fixtures, and related equipment. Responsibilities include:
Operate manual machine shop equipment including engine lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and other machining equipment
Machine new parts from bar stock and raw castings
Restore damaged valve bodies, trim components, and related equipment to required tolerances
Interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions
Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other measuring instruments
Maintain critical dimensions and tolerances throughout machining and repair operations
Rework, modify, and repair existing components to support customer requirements
Assist in developing tooling, fixtures, and production aids to improve efficiency and quality
Verify completed work meets quality standards and job specifications
Complete required job documentation and inspection records
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Comply with all AVS safety policies and procedures
Support additional shop and field service activities as assigned
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years of machining experience
Strong understanding of manual machining practices and techniques
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints
Experience using precision measuring equipment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Commitment to workplace safety
Preferred
Machinist trade school certificate or apprenticeship training
Military machining or mechanical maintenance experience
Experience repairing industrial equipment or valve components
Experience with horizontal lathes, vertical turret lathes (VTLs), milling machines, boring mills, and drill presses
Welding, fabrication, or mechanical repair experience
Experience in power generation, manufacturing, refinery, pharmaceutical, or industrial environments

Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Occasional travel and field work may be required depending on business needs and experience level
Ability to work overtime during peak outage and maintenance seasons
