Position Details
The Manager of Digital Experience and Analytics leads the University’s public-facing digital experience through web governance, analytics, user experience, accessibility, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role translates strategic priorities into measurable digital solutions that enhance website performance, audience engagement, and institutional goals.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Experience Strategy and Roadmap
- Lead day-to-day management and continuous improvement of UTampa's public-facing websites and digital properties.
- Translate strategic priorities into digital roadmaps, implementation plans, and website enhancement recommendations.
- Evaluate and prioritize digital initiatives based on audience needs, performance data, institutional goals, and available resources.
- Recommend website, navigation, and user experience improvements to support engagement and organizational objectives.
- Escalate major strategic, governance, or resource decisions to the Director of Content Strategy.
Analytics, Measurement and Reporting
- Lead website analytics, reporting, and performance measurement activities.
- Develop and maintain KPIs, dashboards, reporting frameworks, and performance reviews.
- Analyze audience behavior and digital performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and improvement areas.
- Provide recommendations to improve website effectiveness, content performance, user experience, accessibility, and search visibility.
- Promote data-informed decision-making across Marketing and Communications.
User Experience, Audience Research and Information Architecture
- Lead recommendations for website usability, information architecture, navigation, and audience pathways.
- Utilize analytics, audience research, and usability findings to improve digital experiences.
- Evaluate website initiatives for usability, accessibility, discoverability, and conversion effectiveness.
- Apply user-centered design principles to improve website structure and functionality.
- Partner with content and technical stakeholders to enhance audience experience and content organization.
Search, Discoverability and Content Performance
- Lead search optimization and discoverability efforts for priority digital content and webpages.
- Analyze search data and performance trends to identify content and website improvement opportunities.
- Recommend search priorities and optimization strategies aligned with institutional goals.
- Partner with content stakeholders to improve search visibility, content structure, and audience engagement.
- Monitor and report on organic search performance and recommend continuous improvements.
Accessibility Strategy and Web Quality
- Lead accessibility initiatives for assigned digital properties and support compliance with University accessibility standards.
- Supervise accessibility assessment, remediation, quality assurance, and continuous improvement activities.
- Establish accessibility priorities and recommend solutions based on audience impact, institutional risk, and available resources.
- Collaborate with campus partners and vendors to address accessibility concerns and support compliance efforts.
- Monitor accessibility standards and recommend improvements to University web practices.
Web Governance and Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain web governance standards, workflows, policies, and quality controls.
- Establish and communicate best practices for accessibility, usability, search, and digital content quality.
- Identify process improvement opportunities that enhance consistency, efficiency, and user experience.
- Provide guidance and consultation to campus partners regarding web standards and digital best practices.
- Evaluate and improve governance processes, documentation, and support services.
Adobe Experience Manager and Web Production
- Oversee website production standards and publishing practices within Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
- Maintain hands-on proficiency in AEM and provide support for website maintenance, priority projects, and urgent publishing needs.
- Review website components and page structures for accessibility, usability, and content quality.
- Partner with Information Technology and Security on platform functionality, enhancements, and technical support.
- Ensure continuity of critical web publishing functions through documentation, training, and backup support.
Team Leadership and Development
- Supervise, coach, and develop the Digital Accessibility and Web Experience Specialist and assigned student employees.
- Establish priorities, performance expectations, and professional development goals.
- Manage workload and resource allocation to support departmental priorities.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented team culture.
- Promote cross-training and knowledge sharing to ensure continuity of critical functions.
Campus and Technology Partnerships
- Serve as the primary operational liaison between Marketing and Communications and Information Technology and Security for website-related initiatives.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with campus stakeholders and partners.
- Provide consultation on digital experience, analytics, accessibility, UX, and web governance best practices.
- Support training, communication, and documentation for web contributors.
- Translate technical and analytical information into actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
Vendors, Platforms and Emerging Capabilities
- Serve as a functional partner for vendors and platforms supporting digital experience, analytics, accessibility, and search optimization.
- Assist with evaluating vendor services, digital tools, and platform improvements.
- Monitor emerging technologies, digital trends, and best practices.
- Develop recommendations and business cases for new tools, enhancements, and digital investments.
- Assess opportunities for innovation based on institutional value, audience impact, cost, and risk.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, digital media, information science, web design, data analytics, user experience or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- Seven or more years of progressively responsible professional experience in digital communications, web strategy, digital analytics, user experience, web production, content management, accessibility, SEO or a related field.
Experience
- Experience using analytics and performance data to improve digital experiences.
- Experience creating dashboards, reports, and recommendations for stakeholders.
- Proficiency with analytics, content management, and SEO platforms (e.g., GA4, AEM, BrightEdge).
- Knowledge of UX, accessibility, information architecture, and content quality best practices.
- Experience supporting website enhancements, redesigns, or content migrations.
- Experience leading projects and collaborating with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or directing staff, students, vendors, or project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education or another complex organization.
- Advanced experience with analytics and visualization tools (e.g., GA4, Looker Studio, Tableau).
- Experience with accessibility, search, and user experience platforms.
- Experience leading digital reporting, performance reviews, or usability research initiatives.
- Training or certification in web accessibility.
- Experience developing training materials, standards, or resources for web contributors.
- Experience managing student employees or early-career digital professionals.
