Job Description:

Saab, Inc. is seeking an experienced Manager, Supply Chain Materials to lead Materials Operations, Warehousing, and Packaging Engineering across the organization.

The primary responsibility of this role is to establish, implement, and sustain a single enterprise-wide operating model for Materials and Packaging Engineering across Syracuse, NY; Grayling, MI; West Lafayette, IN; Orlando, FL; Cranston, RI; Bristol, RI; CROW sites; external and satellite warehouses; and future Saab, Inc. locations.

This is a senior-level leadership position responsible for building and standardizing the organization around People, Process, and Technology. The successful candidate must be comfortable moving between strategy and execution, leading across multiple sites and functions, and capable of assuming broader Director-level responsibilities as the organization grows.

Responsibilities:

Enterprise Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a standardized enterprise operating model for Materials, Warehousing, and Packaging Engineering.
  • Establish common governance, operating standards, KPIs, roles, responsibilities, and accountability across Saab, Inc. locations.
  • Balance enterprise standardization with site-specific production, program, and customer requirements.
  • Develop and execute the enterprise Materials strategy and continuous improvement roadmap.
  • Build organizational capability and develop site and functional leaders.
  • Lead cross-site initiatives focused on operational performance, scalability, cost, service, and risk reduction.

People, Process, and Technology:

  • People: Build a high-performing organization, develop leaders, establish accountability, identify capability gaps, and build succession depth.
  • Process: Standardize SOPs, material flow processes, controls, KPIs, operating cadence, and continuous improvement practices across locations.
  • Technology: Improve the systems, data, reporting, automation, and digital tools used to manage inventory, material flow, warehouse capacity, logistics, and enterprise performance.

Materials and Warehousing:

  • Provide enterprise leadership for receiving, warehousing, inventory management, material movement, staging, and shipping.
  • Drive inventory accuracy, material availability, transaction discipline, and material traceability.
  • Develop enterprise strategies for warehouse capacity, space utilization, material flow, and external and satellite warehousing.
  • Establish common warehouse operating standards and performance expectations across Saab, Inc.

Packaging Engineering:

  • Provide enterprise leadership and organizational ownership for Packaging Engineering.
  • Establish common packaging standards and specifications supporting product protection, preservation, handling, storage, and transportation.
  • Integrate Packaging Engineering with Programs, Engineering, Quality, Operations, Materials, and Logistics.
  • Drive packaging standardization, efficiency, and continuous improvement across Saab, Inc.

Trade Compliance and Logistics Partnership:

  • Work closely with Trade Compliance and Logistics to integrate regulatory requirements into Materials and Packaging processes.
  • Ensure appropriate engagement for international shipments, customs requirements, HTS classification, duty-free activity, licensing, and regulated material movements.
  • Build compliance requirements into shipment planning and execution early in the process.
  • Maintain clear separation between operational execution and the independent regulatory responsibilities of Logistics and Trade Compliance.

Cross-Functional Leadership:

  • Partner closely with Programs, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Program Management, Finance, Trade Compliance, IT, Facilities, and Security.
  • Serve as the enterprise Materials leader in cross-functional planning and operational reviews, influencing decisions across organizational and site boundaries.

Leadership Expectations:

  • Think and operate at an enterprise level rather than an individual-site level.
  • Build organizations and operating systems rather than simply administer existing processes.
  • Lead organizational transformation and change, translating strategy into executable operating plans.
  • Develop and mentor leaders while using data and operational metrics to drive decisions and accountability.
  • Communicate and influence effectively across functions and senior leadership.
  • Demonstrate the leadership capability and organizational maturity to assume broader Director-level responsibilities as business needs evolve.

Compensation Range: $132,000 - $171,600

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a complex manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated environment.
  • Experience leading multi-site operations or enterprise-level initiatives and standardizing processes across multiple locations or business units.
  • Strong Materials Management, Warehousing, and inventory control experience with working knowledge of domestic and international logistics.
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational transformation, continuous improvement, and team development.
  • Strong analytical, ERP/data, and performance management capabilities.

  • Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS and import/export compliance interfaces.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing ERP, WMS, TMS, or related supply chain technology.
