We are seeking a skilled, customer-focused Technical Field Support Technician to support MCP (Motor Control Panel) and CCP (Condenser Control Panel) systems across North America and internationally. This hybrid role combines remote technical support and hands-on field service, helping customers maintain the reliable operation of critical power systems.
With approximately 50% remote support and 50% on-site work, you will support commissioning, troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and customer training activities. Working closely with field service, engineering, project teams, and customers, you will help resolve technical issues and ensure high levels of system performance and customer satisfaction.
The work model for this role is: hybrid on site & working from home.
Your role and responsibilities:
- Deliver remote and on-site technical support for MCP and CCP systems, performing fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, commissioning, and corrective maintenance.
- Execute startup, commissioning, maintenance, and service interventions at customer sites while analyzing operational data and system events to identify root causes and drive solutions.
- Support customers and field service teams via phone, remote access, and digital collaboration tools, serving as a key technical resource during critical system events and escalations.
- Work closely with engineering, project management, and field service teams to resolve complex technical issues and contribute to operational excellence.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, service reports, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge-base content; deliver customer training on system operation and maintenance.
- Uphold ABB Health, Safety, and Environmental standards across all activities; manage administrative responsibilities including service documentation, expense reporting, and timekeeping.

Qualifications for the role:
- Associate's degree in a technical field with 5 years of relevant experience; bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field is preferred.
- Proven experience troubleshooting, commissioning, maintaining, or supporting industrial electrical, automation, power conversion, or power generation systems.
- Deep knowledge and field experience with MCP, power electronics, control systems, PLCs, HMI platforms, or similar industrial technologies; Synchronous Condenser Operations and CCP commissioning experience is a plus.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical manuals; excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex issues under pressure.
- Demonstrated experience providing remote technical support and customer-facing assistance with strong communication and relationship management skills.
- Valid driver's license, willingness and ability to travel approximately 50%, and strong knowledge of electrical safety standards and HSE practices.
- Excellent organizational skills, self-motivation, and ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
