Reports To: Director of IT

Amount of Travel Required: No travel required

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week. Occasional evening or weekend support may be required for campus events or technology maintenance.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Entry-Level Network Technician provides hands-on technical support for the college’s network infrastructure and classroom technology systems. This position is responsible for assisting with the maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of wired and wireless network connectivity, as well as supporting instructional technology used in classrooms and campus learning spaces.

The role works closely with IT staff, faculty, staff, and vendors to ensure reliable technology operations that support academic instruction and campus functions. This position is primarily focused on end-user support, equipment maintenance, and infrastructure assistance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide front-line technical support for network connectivity and classroom technology issues
  • Support classroom and instructional technology systems, including:
  • Dell desktop and classroom computers
  • Microsoft Windows 11 operating systems
  • Epson projectors
  • Atlona video switching and control systems
  • Diagnose and resolve audio/visual (AV) and classroom presentation system issues
  • Assist with installation, setup, and testing of classroom and instructional technology prior to academic terms, events, and special programming
  • Perform basic network infrastructure tasks, including Ethernet and fiber cabling support and installation assistance
  • Respond to help desk tickets and provide timely resolution or escalation as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and documentation for IT and AV equipment
  • Collaborate with IT staff on system maintenance, upgrades, and campus technology projects
  • Coordinate with external vendors for maintenance, repairs, and equipment support
  • Ensure compliance with IT procedures, standards, and security practices

Requirements

  • Attention to detail in documentation and equipment handling
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
  • Basic understanding of network and AV systems

Education

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, or related field
  • OR equivalent combination of education and hands-on technical experience

Experience

  • Entry-level experience preferred (internship, help desk, or IT support experience)
  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Experience supporting Windows-based systems and desktop hardware preferred
  • Exposure to classroom AV systems or instructional technology preferred
  • Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent are a plus
