UMCES researchers work across a wide range of disciplines, from ecology and oceanography to environmental economics and social science, to understand complex environmental challenges facing Maryland, the nation, and the world.
The Unviersity of Maryland Center for Environmental Science is seeking an Office Coordinator and Assistant. This person is expected to provide excellent administrative assistance to the UMCES Chief Operating Officer, Provost, and Vice President for Research and Economic Development. The ideal candidate will; Serve as the primary contact and coordinator for the UMCES Annapolis Office including IT Services; Attend meetings and provide notes and summaries upon request; Assist with UMCES events upon request; Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. One (1) year of professional administrative or coordinator experience.
Occasional in-state travel (1 to 2 times per month) is required on an as needed basis.
This position is expected to be in the office 5 days per week, primarily at the Annapolis location.
This position is open to INTERNAL UMCES employees only. Other external applicants will NOT be considered.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: One (1) year of professional administrative or coordinator experience.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Knowledge of best practices in organization, administration, and customer service.
Knowledge of proper protocol in dealing with confidential information.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.)
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.
