Job Description

In our facilities around the world ThermoFisher MSD builds world-class electron microscopes, constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our performance and efficiency. You will be working in a sophisticated and constantly evolving environment, facilitating processes between Manufacturing & Field Services engineers, providing technical support and solving complex problems, to ensure the system specifications are compliant with the customer requirements. The primary focus of this role is to provide the factory with technical expertise and practical solutions in sample manipulating technology (stages), aiming for structural improvements. Last but not least you will help tackle customer and supply chain related issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

What will you do?

  • Providing technical support to the factory, to ensure the shipping of high-quality systems to our customers, by solving challenging problems and ensuring system requirements.
  • Performing hands-on assembly, testing, trouble shooting and training of personnel.
  • Supporting factory and field service engineers with first builds, installs and upgrades of newly introduced modules.
  • Creating and maintaining work instructions and defining way of working (factory process flow).
  • Develop domain expertise on microscope components.
  • Supporting the supply chain with engineering expertise, including; first articles, rejects, failure analysis and nonconformities.
  • Prepare, submit and drive engineering changes to improve quality, manufacturability and cost.

How will you get there?

  • Knowledge and experience in the field of high precision mechatronic systems is a must. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in this area is advised.
  • A Bachelor/Master of Science degree in Mechatronics is required, or a combination of an engineering education and relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated hands-on and experience with automation, controls, and process validation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis is highly beneficial.
  • Experience with technical product documentation and change management processes.
  • Excellent English language skills (verbal and in writing), Dutch is a huge plus.
  • Ability to mentor and train manufacturing personnel in a cleanroom environment.

Good social and communication skills to work in teams or to train others. You display a pragmatic, proactive approach and build functional relationships with colleagues, partners, and external suppliers.
