About the Role

We’re looking for an Operations Manager to lead day-to-day on-site operations and ensure our shipping, receiving, mailroom, and related services run smoothly and efficiently.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll oversee a small team, coordinate daily workflow, work directly with the client, and make sure employees have the resources and support they need to deliver excellent service. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and willing to jump in and help the team get the job done.

What You’ll Be Doing

Lead the Team

Supervise and support a small on-site team, providing direction, coaching, and feedback.

Assign daily responsibilities and ensure appropriate staffing and coverage.

Train team members on processes, safety procedures, equipment, and customer service expectations.

Monitor performance and address issues in a timely and professional manner.

Help develop team members and identify opportunities for growth and cross-training.

Manage Daily Operations

Oversee day-to-day shipping, receiving, mailroom, and related operational activities.

Coordinate the receipt, processing, movement, and distribution of packages, materials, mail, and other items.

Operate and oversee the safe use of forklifts and other material-handling equipment.

Ensure shipments, deliveries, mail, and materials are processed accurately and efficiently.

Maintain accurate records and tracking of operational activity.

Monitor workflow and make adjustments to keep operations running smoothly.

Deliver Great Client Service

Serve as a primary day-to-day operational contact for the client.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with client representatives and SPS leadership.

Respond to client requests and resolve operational issues quickly and professionally.

Communicate updates, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

Maintain a professional, service-focused environment for both the client and employees.

Focus on Safety & Quality

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

Ensure employees follow established safety procedures and operational standards.

Conduct regular walkthroughs to identify safety concerns, workflow issues, and opportunities for improvement.

Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and operational resources.

Promptly report safety, security, personnel, or operational incidents.

Maintain compliance with SPS policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations.

Improve the Operation

Look for ways to improve processes, efficiency, service quality, and team performance.

Monitor operational metrics, KPIs, and service levels.

Identify and address recurring operational challenges.

Support special projects and new initiatives as needed.

Partner with vendors, carriers, couriers, and other service providers when necessary.

What We Need From You

3–5 years of experience in operations, shipping/receiving, mailroom, warehouse, logistics, facilities, or a related environment.

Be available business hours Monday-Friday with some weekend availability

Forklift experience is required. Current forklift certification is preferred or must be obtained as required.

Previous experience supervising, leading, or coordinating a small team.

A hands-on approach and willingness to work alongside your team when needed.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Professional and customer-focused approach.

Ability to troubleshoot problems and make sound decisions independently.

Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and technology.

A strong commitment to safety, accuracy, and operational excellence.

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

What You Can Expect

This is an on-site, hands-on operations leadership position . You’ll spend time managing the operation, working with your team, interacting with the client, and stepping in where needed to keep things moving.

The role requires regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, and moving materials throughout the workday. You must be able to safely lift and/or move items weighing 40 pounds or more and operate material-handling equipment, including a forklift.

Pay Range

$60,000 — $67,000 USD
