About the Team
The PS Engineering, Integrated Solutions & Ecosystem team is responsible for coordinating innovation opportunities from our partners, leading HP’s technological future. Our mission is to influence and simplify the engineering workstreams across teams and stakeholders to drive clarity and alignment for HP’s innovation strategy. By leading the Innovation Initiatives in collaboration with industry leaders such as Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, Nvidia, Microsoft, and Google, we bridge the gap between proof of concepts and market-ready features. We serve as the vital link between external partner innovation roadmaps and HP’s internal engineering execution, ensuring that every innovation we pursue delivers maximum value to our customers.
- Job Summary
- This role is responsible for providing continuous leadership to multiple subordinate managers and individual contributors, and guiding them towards established vision and strategy by applying expert subject matter knowledge. The role takes charge of resource allocation, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring alignment with program and organizational roadmaps. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams to communicate program status, escalate issues, and influence strategic decision-making. The role drives improvements in engineering products and solutions, and identifies process enhancement and cost reduction opportunities.
- Responsibilities
- Guides the team towards established vision and strategy for engineering solutions, across multiple areas and divisional boundaries.
- Provides direct and ongoing leadership for multiple subordinate managers and individual contributors, designing engineering solutions and managing projects for products, systems, software, and solutions.
- Manages headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects and programs.
- Ensures resources are appropriately allocated and goals, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps.
- Engages with program managers, marketing, supply chain, technical leaders and executives to communicate program status, escalate issues, and guide and influence strategic decision-making.
- Coordinates with these cross-functional teams to drive improvement in engineering products and solutions against critical KPIs, identify opportunities for further process improvement and cost reductions, and recommends changes in alignment with business tactics and strategy.
- Manages relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, including setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs.
- Ensures team members are effectively communicating and collaborating with outsourced resources; supports commercial negotiations and establishment of terms related to services and projects.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvement and cost reductions opportunities, and recommends changes in alignment with business tactics and strategy.
- Applies expert subject matter knowledge, shapes knowledge base across businesses, functions, or regions, and provides strong leadership, driving change initiatives and monitoring performance goals.
- Performs talent and people-care management responsibilities including recruitment, performance management, coaching and career development.
- Ensures that proper knowledge, performance standards and career development tools are in place to support ongoing team member and process development.
- Education & Experience Recommended
- Four-year or Graduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
- Typically has 10+ years of job-related experience or 8-10 years of management experience, preferably in engineering design, engineering design tools and software packages, or a related field.
