Applications for part-time faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed when openings become available. Future teaching assignments are on a term-by-term basis, which may include fall, spring, and summer. Postings close yearly and to maintain your application within the system, you will need to re-apply each year.

Art Appreciation is a general introduction to Art and a general educational elective. Subject matter includes a brief introduction to the nature and function of the visual arts, the visual elements and principles of design, an introduction to various art media, and a brief exploration of art history. The Art Department offers courses in Art Appreciation, Art History, History of Photography, Graphic Design, drawing, oil painting, water media, sculpture, ceramics, figure drawing, photography, and introduction to studio art.

Rate of pay: $875 per credit hour

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience teaching at a community college and understanding the community college mission is a plus. Demonstrated teaching ability is the top priority. Instructional experience in a classroom as well as experience using an online learning management system like Canvas or similar is highly desirable. On-line delivery of instruction, use of technology for instruction, and experience or interest in project-based, service learning, or inquiry-based learning will be given special consideration.

Required Qualifications

A Master's Degree in Art or Art History is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience at the college/post-secondary level is preferred.
