The Amazon Mentor Program is part of the LATAM New Seller Recruitment team. The program incentivizes third-party partners (3PPs) — such as integrators, consultants, and influencers — to refer, launch, and grow Sellers on Amazon, allowing us to scale our capabilities to onboard new Sellers. The partners (a.k.a. Mentors) are trained to prospect leads, pitch Sellers, provide launch assistance (e.g., catalog and listing), and offer post-launch engagement for up to 4 months (e.g., Ads, FBA, DBA). The program was launched in Brazil in Apr'22 and has leveraged seller experience through partners. One challenge of the team is to educate other 3P teams on how to use their initiatives through Mentors. The program has 100+ partners acting as Seller's Mentors, with the high performers managed by a Partner Manager.

Therefore, the Partner Manager core activities include: identify, prospect, recruit, and manage high-potential Mentors for the program. Within this scope, we expect the person to lead strategic projects to improve partner experience and foster the adoption of key 3P programs such as FBA and Ads. The Partner Manager manages a portfolio of 15–20 companies from the e-commerce sector, such as SaaS companies, integrators, consultancies, and e-commerce influencers. The main inputs/outputs to be managed by the Partner Manager on a day-to-day work can be broken down into: (1) partner inputs, driving the number of active Mentors and Sellers launched by them, and (2) Seller inputs, managing Seller conversion from RegStart-to-launch, FBA adoption, Ads adoption, and GMS.

The person must be comfortable dealing with ambiguity to adapt the strategy based on the partner profile, building quarterly strategies that can change with market trends, and diving deep into partner acquisition mechanisms to support them. As there is no similar program to be used as benchmark, there is not a clear SOP ready and the Partner Manager needs to search for external benchmarks and draw inspiration from other programs. Additionally, the Partner Manager faces challenges such as managing a diverse set of partner profiles with varying levels of maturity, aligning partner incentives with Amazon's seller success goals, driving brand owner acquisition through mentors (currently at ~4% penetration), and ensuring partners remain engaged beyond the initial onboarding phase. We expect the person to have bias for action to explore new segments of partners and test different onboarding and engagement strategies to retain key Mentors. The account management routines involve: providing data-driven insights and advice to optimize the partners' success at Amazon, organizing in-person events at the office with stakeholders, and coordinating internal Seller improvement initiatives in the Mentor pipeline with program leaders.
