People Operations Specialist — Full-Time

  • Location: On site in Findlay, Ohio
  • Schedule: 30 hours per week, Monday–Friday, including one evening
  • Starting salary: $52,500 annually
  • Classification: Exempt
  • Reports to: Executive Director and Assistant Director

50 North is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching lives and supporting independence for adults age 50 and older. Through programs, services, and resources, we promote wellness, connection, and community engagement.

Position Summary

The People Operations Specialist manages 50 North’s HR operations and serves as a resource to employees, supervisors, and leadership. This position handles the full employee life cycle, helps address workplace concerns fairly and confidentially, and improves the practices that support a positive and consistent employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

Manage recruitment, hiring, onboarding, employee development, and offboarding in partnership with department leaders.

Advise supervisors and leadership on employee relations, performance management, documentation, and workplace concerns.

Coordinate employee complaints and workplace investigations, document findings, and recommend next steps to leadership.

Administer approved benefits and leave processes, including enrollment and employee communications.

Maintain BambooHR, employee records, job descriptions, and HR reporting.

Review HR policies and the employee handbook and recommend updates for leadership and board consideration when appropriate.

Partner with department leaders on staffing needs, workforce planning, and professional development.

Coordinate employee engagement, recognition, and training initiatives.

Monitor changes affecting employment practices and seek specialized guidance when needed.

Attend Safety Council meetings as needed and use HR information to identify opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications

Significant HR or people operations experience, including employee relations, benefits administration, recruitment, and advising supervisors.

Strong knowledge of HR practices and the ability to apply policies consistently.

Sound judgment and the ability to address sensitive matters fairly and confidentially.

Excellent communication, documentation, organization, and conflict resolution skills.

Experience using HR information systems; BambooHR experience is a plus.

An HR-related degree or professional certification is preferred; substantial relevant experience will also be considered.

Ability to work on site during scheduled hours, including one evening.
