Job Description
- In collaboration with the surgical team, and under the supervision of the Chief Perfusionist/Director of Surgical Services, the perfusionist is primarily concerned with coordinating and participating in the management, set up and operation of heart/lung machines and other ancillary equipment used in open heart and other cardiovascular procedures. The perfusionist is responsible for:
- evaluating techniques and/or equipment for clinical application
- acting as a resource person for the entire heart team
- ensuring effective communication with the entire heart team
Additional Job Description
- Bachelor of Science degree in Perfusion Technology or Bachelor of Science degree with a certificate in Perfusion Technology from an accredited cardiovascular perfusion education program. Three to five years of clinical experience preferred. Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion required.
- Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
