Wellstar Medical Group is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatric Cardiologist to join our established and highly collaborative pediatric cardiology team serving patients throughout the greater Atlanta region. This is an opportunity to join a respected regional program with a strong referral base, excellent clinical support, and a balanced practice model focused primarily on outpatient care.
The successful candidate will join a team of three pediatric cardiologists providing comprehensive cardiovascular care for fetal patients, infants, children, adolescents, and young adults across multiple clinic locations and Wellstar hospitals.
Position Highlights
- Primarily outpatient, clinic-based practice
- Four-and-a-half-day work week with dedicated administrative time
- Established team of three pediatric cardiologists, recruiting for a fourth physician
- Collaborative partnership with pediatric specialists, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, neonatologists, emergency physicians, and pediatric hospital teams
- Strong work-life balance supported by a primarily outpatient practice model and limited inpatient responsibilities
- Minimal inpatient consultation responsibilities
- Telemedicine capabilities for consultative follow-up and family education
- Well-supported call schedule with sonographer support for urgent weekend echocardiograms
- Close collaboration with the Medical College of Georgia , with opportunities for teaching and research participation available but not required
Clinical Responsibilities
- Evaluation and management of congenital and acquired pediatric cardiovascular conditions
- Interpretation of pediatric echocardiograms, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and Holter monitors
- Outpatient consultations and longitudinal patient management
- Fetal echocardiography clinic participation
- Limited inpatient consultations at Wellstar hospitals
- Collaboration with pediatric emergency departments and inpatient providers regarding cardiac concerns and referrals
Practice Locations
Care is provided through several pediatric cardiology clinic locations throughout the greater Atlanta region, including:
- Marietta
- Dallas
- Holly Springs
- Acworth
- Pediatric Specialty Center locations
Provider schedules are structured to allow regular rotation among one to two clinic sites while maintaining continuity of care.
Call Coverage
- Shared call rotation among the physician group
- Low-volume weeknight call responsibilities
- Weekend call coverage supported by dedicated sonography resources
- Inpatient consultation volume averages approximately 1-2 consults per week
Academic and Professional Development Opportunities
The pediatric cardiology team enjoys a collaborative relationship with the Medical College of Georgia , creating opportunities for physicians interested in teaching, mentoring trainees, and participating in clinical research. Academic involvement is welcomed but not required, allowing physicians to tailor their professional interests while maintaining a rewarding clinical practice.
Ideal Candidate
We welcome candidates with expertise in:
- General Pediatric Cardiology
- Congenital Heart Disease
- Non-Invasive Pediatric Cardiac Imaging
Additional experience or interest in advanced cardiac imaging (CT/MRI) is welcomed but not required.
Qualifications
- MD or DO
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Cardiology
- Eligible for Georgia medical licensure
- Strong commitment to patient-centered care and multidisciplinary collaboration
