Job Description
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Plastic Surgery, Assistant/Associate/Professor, Plastic Surgery Department, Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine.
ROLE of the POSITION
The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV, is seeking to recruit a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level with a focus on breast reconstruction and reconstructive microsurgery.
The successful candidate will have specialized training and interest in breast reconstruction, reconstructive microsurgery, and Gender Affirmation Surgery, as well as expertise across the full spectrum of plastic surgery, including complex reconstruction of the trunk, head and neck, and upper and lower extremities.
The position offers broad exposure to advanced reconstructive microsurgery, including breast microsurgery, extremity salvage, head and neck reconstruction, complex trunk and trauma cases, replantation, robotics, complex wound care, and the management of traumatic injuries such as facial fractures and burns at the State of Nevada’s only Level I Trauma Center.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing academic Plastic Surgery practice with an integrated plastic surgery residency training program and a micro surgery fellowship. Responsibilities include patient care, research and teaching (didactic and bedside) for Plastic Surgery residents and fellows, trainees in other residencies, and medical students: patient care with reconstructive needs in both inpatient and outpatient care settings, and clinical and/or basic science research. Must take a plastic surgery call.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a MD or DO from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and completion of ACGME accredited residency program. Candidates must be board eligible or board certified, and completion of a fellowship is required. Completion of a microsurgery or reconstructive microsurgery fellowship is preferred.
Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date. Candidates must be eligible for an unrestricted Nevada medical license, Nevada pharmacy and DEA licenses, and malpractice insurance. They must also meet credentialing requirements and be able to obtain privileges at affiliated hospitals and other site locations as needed.
The candidate’s educational credentials, terminal degree, experience in an academic medical institution or equivalency, research and scholarly activity will be considered in determining the candidate’s recommended rank. The SOM Faculty Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure (FAPT) Committee will use the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV (SOM) promotion criteria to recommend rank to the Dean of the SOM. Tenure consideration may be given upon hire on a case by case basis depending on verified previous credentials, the FAPT recommendation, and SOM Dean's recommendation.
