Principal Consultant - Infra Ops

Johnson Controls is seeking a Principal Consultant - Infra Ops to support the IT solution delivery component of the investment portfolio for a specific function or capability within a project. This role combines infrastructure operations knowledge with delivery discipline, stakeholder coordination, and clear accountability for outcomes.

Role Overview

In this role, you will help translate portfolio priorities into executable delivery plans, coordinate across business and IT partners, and support infrastructure operations initiatives from planning through implementation. You will work in a senior advisory capacity to keep delivery aligned to scope, schedule, quality, and business value.

Key Responsibilities

• •Accountable for the IT solution delivery component of the investment portfolio for a specific function or capability within a project.
• •Partner with business stakeholders, PMO, IT Delivery, and Infrastructure Operations teams to align scope, priorities, and delivery plans.
• •Support planning and execution of infrastructure operations initiatives, including dependencies, timelines, risks, and issue resolution.
• •Track progress against scope, cost, schedule, quality, adoption, and value outcomes.
• •Prepare clear status updates, decision points, and delivery documentation for stakeholders.
• •Coordinate escalation paths and support transition of delivered work into operational support.
• •Contribute to governance, risk management, and continuous improvement across the delivery lifecycle.

How You Will Do It

• •Take ownership of commitments by acting with accountability and integrity, tracking actions, surfacing risks early, and following through until issues are resolved.
• •Stay close to the work by working directly with delivery teams and stakeholders to remove blockers and keep priorities clear.
• •Use practical problem-solving to simplify dependencies, challenge assumptions, and keep delivery moving.
• •Collaborate across functions so business, PMO, and IT partners can make decisions with shared context and trust.
• •Improve every day by learning from delivery outcomes, communicating candidly, and applying lessons to future work.

Qualifications

• •University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• •6+ years of experience in IT solution delivery, infrastructure operations, or a related consulting or delivery role; more than 7 years of experience is preferred for this principal-level scope.
• •Experience coordinating project delivery, dependencies, and stakeholder communication across multiple functions.
• •Strong understanding of infrastructure operations concepts, delivery governance, and service transition.
• •Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining quality, accountability, and follow-through.
• •Strong written and verbal communication skills in a matrixed environment.

Nice to Have

• •Experience supporting PMO processes, steering committee updates, or portfolio governance forums.
• •Exposure to Agile or Waterfall delivery approaches.
• •Experience working with both business and technical teams on complex delivery initiatives.
