The Role

As a Principal Software Developer in our AI R&D team, you will be expected to provide mentorship, solve complex problems, and manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.

Your Impact

You will have the opportunity to:

• •Work closely with Software Development, Data Science, and Product Management teams to design, architect, and deliver next generation AI products, leveraging Generative AI, agentic systems, and machine learning technologies to create differentiated customer experiences and business value.
• •Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI powered product capabilities, including Generative AI, large language model (LLM) applications, agentic AI systems, and intelligent automation solutions across AspenTech's product portfolio.
• •Drive the technical architecture and implementation of AI products from concept to production, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and measurable customer value.
• •Collaborate with Data Science, Product Management, and Engineering teams to identify opportunities to apply AI and autonomous agent technologies to solve complex industrial challenges.
• •Evaluate and adopt emerging AI technologies, frameworks, and methodologies, translating research innovations into production ready product features.
• •Provide leadership and guidance to entry level developers.

What You'll Need

• •Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or related technical field.
• •8+ years of progressive software development experience.
• •Proficient with at least one of the following languages: Java, Go, Python, C#, C++.
• •Demonstrated experience developing and shipping AI powered products and services in production environments.
• •Experience with Generative AI technologies, including large language models (LLMs), retrieval augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, vector databases, prompt engineering, and model evaluation.
• •Experience designing and implementing agentic AI systems utilizing planning, reasoning, tool orchestration, workflow automation, and multi agent architectures.
• •Proficiency with modern AI frameworks and tooling.
• •Experience integrating AI capabilities into enterprise software products with a strong focus on performance, observability, governance, security, and responsible AI practices.
• •Familiarity with AI application lifecycle management, model deployment, monitoring, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
• •Understanding of modern AI infrastructure, including GPU enabled cloud environments, vector databases, and distributed AI systems.
• •Passion in finding creative solutions to problems, and pride in well crafted code.
