Position Overview:

Responsible for parts salvage using standard and specialized welding techniques. With the exception of thermal spray application, employees working in this job classification are required to be apprentice/certified journeyperson welders.

Job Description:

• •Repair worn parts and welding stock material to bring back parts to specifications
• •Read and interpret blueprints and welding process specifications
• •Fit sub-assemblies and assemblies together and prepare for welding
• •Lay out, cut and form metal to specifications
• •Fully Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
• •Able to operate manual or semi-automatic flame cutting equipment
• •Operate brazing and soldering equipment

Qualifications:

• •Welding Journeyperson ticket, or interprovincial Red Seal, is required
• •Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C
• •Previous on-the-job training such as carbon arc gouging , Tig ,SMAW ,GMAW and FCAW
• •Previous experience with Heavy Equipment repairs an asset
• •You are able to work indoors with noise, vibrations and other hazards that are common to the job
• •You are able to work in uncomfortable or unusual positions at times
• •Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively
• •Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds
• •A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
• •Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner and comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures

Note:

• •This posting is for a static weekend night shift scheduled 4 days on 3 days off, followed by 3 days on 4 days off, Thursday to Sunday, followed by Friday to Sunday. The shift will be 5:30pm - 5:30am.
• •The successful candidate may be required to complete training during a Mon - Thurs / Fri weekday shift and will move to weekends once they have sufficient experience
• •Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement

• •Hourly Rate: $53.05 – 56.23 / Hour
