About Frequency:
Frequency is a New Zealand-owned project advisory consultancy. We work alongside clients from day one, bringing practical delivery knowledge and experienced people into complex projects — often in live operational environments where judgement and relationships matter.
The opportunity:
Our Wellington Industrial team is growing, with an exciting pipeline of work across healthcare, manufacturing and water infrastructure. We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong mechanical background to join the team and help deliver technically complex projects in live operational environments.
You’ll work across industrial and building services projects from planning through to handover, coordinating clients, consultants, contractors and technical specialists. A key part of the role will be managing upgrades in environments where essential services need to remain operational throughout delivery.
This role would suit someone with at least 5 years’ project delivery experience who understands mechanical systems, can confidently work through technical challenges, and brings a practical, well-organised approach to project delivery. This is work where services often need to stay live, stakeholders are diverse, and delivery needs calm structure.
What success looks like:
We spoke with Scott Bosworth, Industrial Service Line Lead, about what success looks like: “Success here comes down to professional judgement and relationships. Plan the disruptive moments, communicate clearly, and make good calls under pressure. If you spot gaps early and keep the team aligned, you’ll thrive.”
What you’ll do:
Deliver critical building services upgrades in complex, often live environments keeping essential services running
Lead or support disruption and outage planning to minimise downtime and manage dependencies
Build and run clear delivery plans across scope, programme, budget, risk, reporting and governance
Coordinate consultants, contractors and client stakeholders through design, procurement, delivery and handover
Support commissioning, testing and handover so systems perform as intended
Maintain a strong health and safety lens throughout delivery
Build strong working relationships with clients and project teams while contributing positively to the wider Frequency team
What sets you up for success:
At least 5 years’ experience in project delivery, ideally within industrial, infrastructure or building services environments.
A strong mechanical background, gained through engineering, construction, contracting or project delivery.
Experience delivering mechanical or building services upgrades in live or operational environments.
Confidence working with technical information and coordinating across multiple disciplines and phases of delivery.
Experience working in healthcare, manufacturing, water or other critical operational environments would be an advantage.
Familiarity with NZ procurement/contracts (e.g. NZS 3910/3916) is useful, not a must
Clear communication, strong organisation, and a structured approach to risk and delivery
A willingness to continue developing both your project delivery capability and your consulting skill set .
How we work (and how you’ll grow):
We’re office-first, because in-person collaboration accelerates learning, strengthens relationships, and helps us solve problems faster. You’ll generally work between our Wellington office and client or project sites, staying close to the work and the people who matter. Flexibility is supported where it makes sense.
We’re also intentional about development at Frequency. You’ll be supported through structured pathways that build both delivery capability and consulting confidence — with clear expectations at each stage and practical support to help you progress. That includes regular coaching and mentoring from senior leaders, and opportunities to take real ownership as you grow.
What you’ll get:
5 weeks’ annual leave
4.5% employer KiwiSaver contribution
Enhanced parental leave
Wellbeing benefit and access to EAP for you and your whānau
Learning and development support (forums, training budgets, professional memberships)
Regular team connection moments and events
If you’re an experienced project professional looking to take the next step with a growing Wellington team, we’d love to hear from you.
Interested in Frequency, but not sure this is the right role or location for you? We’re recruiting across the motu, so take a look at our other vacancies or submit an Expression of Interest. We’d be keen to hear from you.
