This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC Washington Office, headquartered in Washington, DC. Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Public Health Advisor (Policy and Health Issues Management), you will: Develop and guide long-range strategic plans, organizational goals, and policy priorities while advising leadership on planning, evaluation, and performance management to support CDC mission objectives. Serve as the principal advisor on congressional, legislative, and regulatory matters by analyzing legislation, coordinating congressional briefings, preparing testimony and policy documents, and ensuring agency positions are accurately represented. Evaluate public health programs, identify opportunities for improvement, develop new initiatives, coordinate responses to high-priority inquiries, and build partnerships with federal, state, local, and external organizations to advance CDC priorities. Advise senior leadership on complex public health, policy, and oversight issues; coordinate with HHS, Congress, OMB, and other stakeholders; and represent the organization in high-level discussions that influence agency policy and national public health initiatives. This position has 20% supervisory duties-candidates must also have demonstrated or shown the potential to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: (for positions above GS-5): Experience that provided: Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities. Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings. Knowledge of a specialized public health program. Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions. Skill in oral and written communications, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. AND Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year of specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following: Leading legislative affairs activities, including providing advice on the U.S. Congressional legislative process, analyzing legislation and policy proposals, and preparing Congressional correspondence. Engaging in federal oversight activities, including Congressional and Government Accountability Office (GAO) inquiries. Directing the development and coordination of legislative and policy initiatives, including advising senior leadership on legislative and policy matters. Applying and interpreting laws, regulations, policies, and precedents governing federal public health programs to support legislative, policy, and oversight activities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
