Join our Operations team and play a critical role in ensuring the quality, safety, and reliability of the materials that support the production of innovative medical technologies. As a Receiving Inspector, you will help maintain the highest standards of compliance and product quality while contributing to our mission of improving outcomes for patients around the world.

What will you be doing?

  • Perform receiving inspection activities for incoming materials, components, and subassemblies
  • Inspect materials against engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements using appropriate measurement tools
  • Approve or reject incoming materials and ensure correct identification, segregation, and status control
  • Support the timely release of materials to production while maintaining compliance with quality procedures
  • Identify and document nonconforming materials in accordance with company procedures
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and audit ready inspection records and documentation
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant inspection area
  • Support other operational activities as required

What will you need to be successful?

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical or vocational training in a related field preferred
  • 2+ years of quality or receiving inspection experience within a medical device or other regulated industry
  • Understanding of FDA 21 CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485 requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience with sampling plans, inspection methodologies, and measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, and vision systems
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods while performing inspection activities

The anticipated base compensation range for this position is $44,250 - 66,500 USD annually. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role at Smith + Nephew. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
