Summary

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Community Center on RAF Lakenheath. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on days, evenings, weekends, holidays or special situations. Scheduled hours will be 0-40 per week with no minimum guarantee.

Duties

Performs and/or assists other Recreation Assistants in the operation and maintenance of the Community Center facility. Set up areas for scheduled events or activities, record attendance, assist customers with use of computers, gaming consoles and issuing skating equipment. Takes payment and prepares simple food items. Assists customers with signing for specialty events and/or instructional classes. Assists with special events organized by the Community Center. Events are conducted throughout the Community Center facilities to include: Page Community Center, Ward Community Center and Eagles Landing Event Center. Responsible for cleaning of the facility throughtout the day and before closing. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications

Who May Apply: Open to everyone. Applicants will be categorized by preference(s) and/or priority consideration eligibilities. An applicant's eligibility will be determined based on eligibility claimed in the questionnaire and proof of eligibility MUST be provided with application by the closing date, 10/19/2026 Citizens of the United States (US) who reside within the local commuting area (60-mile radius) of RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom (UK), or will do so within the next 30 days. Eligible applicants must possess a US-issued social security number and be able to provide documentation proving residency status in the UK. Applicants cannot be 'ordinarily resident'. A person is considered to be 'ordinarily resident' if they have resided in the United Kingdom (UK) for more than 366 days without an affiliation to the US Visiting Forces. Time spent in the UK as an employee, or dependent of an employee, of a US agency serving and supporting the US Visiting Forces (i.e., active duty military, federal civilian, AAFES, Red Cross, one of the contract universities, a military banking facility or federal credit union, or US government contractors) is not counted toward being 'ordinary resident'. In accordance with the Status of Forces Agreement between the US and the UK, British citizens may not apply for US NAF positions; however, they may be eligible to apply for local national positions on base. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Practical knowledge of recreational activities, rules and procedures is desirable. Skill in the use and operation of various equipment and skating skills to provide presentable program environment and cash handling is desirable, but not required.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
