Summary
About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Community Center on RAF Lakenheath. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on days, evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Scheduled hours will be 0-40 per week with no minimum guarantee.
Duties
Types of duties include, but are not limited to the following: Carries out recurring group activities such as classes, clubs, special events, outreach, competitive games and events, and self-directed leisure. Recommends new programming activities, to include type of format and resources the activity would require. Gathers information from a number of different sources, including past programs and current popular programs in other communities. Evaluates the information and makes a judgment on what meets the needs of the specific clientele groups. Assists individuals with special interests to develop clubs or special interest groups. Assists in promoting marketing strategies. During deployment, exercises, and other special conditions, leads leisure activities and assists with services. Sets up rooms to support meeting group needs. Collects fees and protects funds. Greets facility users and conducts facility tours. Decorates facility to reflect holiday and program themes. Reports facility repairs and maintenance requirements according to procedures. Assists in maintaining facility to meet operational standards. Works with other staff members, volunteer and/or individual/personal services contract personnel. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications
Who May Apply: Open to everyone. Applicants will be categorized by preference(s) and/or priority consideration eligibilities. An applicant's eligibility will be determined based on eligibility claimed in the questionnaire and proof of eligibility MUST be provided with application by the closing date, 09/29/2026 Citizens, permanent residents, and legal residents of the United States (US) who reside within the local commuting area (60-mile radius) of RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom (UK), or will do so within the next 30 days. Eligible applicants must possess a US-issued social security number and be able to provide documentation proving residency status in the UK. Applicants cannot be 'ordinarily resident'. A person is considered to be 'ordinarily resident' if they have resided in the United Kingdom (UK) for more than 366 days without an affiliation to the US Visiting Forces. Time spent in the UK as an employee, or dependent of an employee, of a US agency serving and supporting the US Visiting Forces (i.e., active duty military, federal civilian, AAFES, Red Cross, one of the contract universities, a military banking facility or federal credit union, or US government contractors) is not counted toward being 'ordinary resident'. In accordance with the Status of Forces Agreement between the US and the UK, British citizens may not apply for US NAF positions; however, they may be eligible to apply for local national positions on base. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Experience which provides a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs; and practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities equipment, rules and procedures which involves recreational work in the area of specialty in which the position is assigned. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing and possess skill in dealing with the public.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
