Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Riverhead, NY

• Hours/Days: 5/8.5 hour shifts, Mon-Fri 8a-6p (RDO Thursday)
• Organization: New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)

In This Role, You Will:

• •Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents, as well as supportive care medications as prescribed by a physician
• •Recognize and treat cancer-related and treatment-related issues.
• •Monitor and chart vital signs, document in the medication administration record
• •Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge
• •Participate in cancer research trials, administering medications per protocol
• •Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness
• •Teach patients and caregivers families regarding treatment expectations.
• •Monitor patient status during the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive medications.
• •Chart the patient’s response to treatment and medication.
• •Educate patients and caregivers about follow up care and emergency services

We Require:

• •Valid New York State RN License
• •Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• •Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• •Proficiency with an EMR (preferred)
• •Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• •Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
• •Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• •Reliable transportation to travel to NYCBS locations for patient care needs
• •1:7 Weekend coverage in Port Jeff (An additional day off is provided during the week of the scheduled weekend )
