Research assistant

Job Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Dog Cognition Lab RA will work with the PI and undergraduate researchers in designing, running, and analysis for behavioral experiments with dogs. The RA performs organizational and administrative duties as well as taking an active role in all stages of research, including preparing manuscripts for publication.

Responsibilities include:

- designing new research protocols with PI

- overseeing and guiding undergraduate research assistants in all aspects of their work

- subject recruitment, coordination, and communication

- writing IACUC and IRB protocols

- organizing data collection, performing and cross-checking data coding, and statistical analysis

- participating in writing up sections of completed research, and submitting for publication

- holding lab meetings when needed

- maintaining and organizing subject databases

- maintaining laboratory space and equipment as needed

- serving as experimenter as needed

Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS:

M.S. or Ph.D. in social science or science. Knowledge of dog cognition or animal cognition literature.

Also necessary: Experience managing behavioral lab for a minimum of 1 year.

Experience managing your own or others' research program.

Experience coding behavior and doing statistical analysis (in R or SPSS, preferably) of behavioral studies.

A high level of organization and flexibility, and a facility working with a team, will be assets.

|Salary: $33/hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
