SAH Registered Nurse

SUMMARY:

• The operating room RN is responsible for the care and safety of the patient in the operating room.
• The operating room RN oversees the running of the OR in accordance with established federal, state, and accreditation standards.
• The operating room RN ensures that all necessary equipment and instrumentation is available, and organizes case carts for upcoming procedures.
• The OR RN ensures that all members of the perioperative team adhere to the Universal Protocol policy.

• Other duties include cleaning, decontamination and sterilization of instruments and operating room disinfection and cleaning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• •Maintains surgeon preference cards
• •Conducts a patient assessment and reassessment and evaluation and documents appropriately.
• •Ensures patient safety during intraoperative phase in both the circulating and scrub role
• •Ensures that all needed equipment is available and in working order
• •Processes instruments for the operating room
• •Perform specimen handling
• •Participates in Hospital Committees/Meetings as assigned
• •Participates in preceptorship program and educates new hires within the organization
• •Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• •1 – 5 years' prior experience preferred
• •Knowledge of aseptic technique, infection control principles, sterilization techniques, instrument processing, and operation of steam sterilizers.
• •Knowledge of Spaulding Classification
• •Knowledge of AORN Standards and Recommended Practices
• •Knowledge of Universal Protocol
• •Ability to prioritize equipment needs of the operating room
• •Excellent organizational and communication skills.

EDUCATION:

• •Associates Degree required, BSN preferred
• •RN and BLS required, ACLS required within 6 months of hire

Pay Range:

$35.70-$71.40
