Description

About All In One Accounting

All In One Accounting is a 7-time winner of the 50 Fastest Growing Companies in the Twin Cities and one of the Best Places to Work in the Minneapolis area. Our purpose is simple: to make the lives of entrepreneurial and nonprofit leaders better. We do that by supporting profitable growth, protecting assets, and amplifying impact — bringing financial clarity and strategic leadership to the clients who need it most. We run on EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System), which means clear goals, strong accountability, and a team that executes with intention.

About the Role

We're seeking a Senior Construction Accountant who can independently manage complex construction client work — from multi-phase residential projects to commercial GC operations — while informally mentoring junior team members and setting the standard for financial reporting quality. You bring deep job cost expertise, understand the risks unique to construction finance, and consistently operate ahead of problems rather than behind them. You're the financial resource your clients, Controller, and CFOs rely on without needing to ask twice.

Now About You

We hire for hungry, humble, and smart — and at the Senior Accountant level, those qualities show up with more depth and independence. Hungry means you're proactively improving your clients' financial operations and sharing what you know with the people around you. Humble means you've earned your expertise but you're still the first to ask a question or admit uncertainty when it matters. Smart means you operate with strong judgment, catch issues before they surface, and communicate with the kind of clarity that makes Controllers and clients alike trust your work without needing to check behind you.

Responsibilities & Expectations

Client Responsibilities

Own day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of complex construction clients with minimal Controller or CFO oversight

Maintain sophisticated job cost structures for multi-phase and multi-contract projects

Maintain and review monthly WIP schedules including over/under billing analysis

Lead AIA billing processes, draw request preparation, and retainage tracking

Manage subcontractor compliance including lien waivers, insurance certificates, and 1099 preparation

Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements with job-level and company-level variance analysis

Independently identify and resolve complex job cost discrepancies and accounting issues

Informally mentor Accountants on construction-specific accounting practices

Support workers' compensation audit preparation and insurance reconciliations

Develop and document process improvements for construction client accounting cycles

Implement and maintain robust internal controls across client accounts

Utilize current processes and tools, including code red alerts, to proactively identify and prevent fraud throughout all client accounting processes

Meet or exceed billable hours goals while maintaining service excellence

Internal Responsibilities

Complete all internal responsibilities including time tracking, capacity planning, and quarterly initiatives

Actively participate in All In One Accounting's Brand Ambassador program, representing our mission and values

Uphold security practices to protect client assets effectively

The Successful Candidate Will Have

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or equivalent experience

Experience in a multi-client or Client Accounting Services (CAS) environment strongly preferred

6+ years of accounting experience with significant construction industry focus

Deep expertise in job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition

Proven ability to manage complex, multi-project client work independently

Proficiency with construction accounting software (Sage, Procore, QuickBooks, ComputerEase, COINS, or similar)

Demonstrated informal mentorship or knowledge-sharing with junior staff

Excellence in written and verbal communication with construction business owners
