Overview

AtkinsRéalis is a globally recognised design, engineering, and project management consultancy, and one of the UK's leading multidisciplinary architectural practices. Our Glasgow studio is home to a talented team of Architects, Architectural Technologists, Interior Designers, Landscape Architects, and Building Surveying professionals delivering projects across sectors including Education, Healthcare, Defence, Energy, Commercial, and Residential.

As a Senior Architect, you will have the opportunity to lead high-profile projects from concept through to completion, working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment and alongside a national and international network of design professionals. You will play a key role in shaping design outcomes, developing client relationships, and mentoring future talent.

Your role

Lead architectural projects through all stages, from concept design to completion.

Provide design and technical leadership across projects of varying scale and complexity.

Manage, mentor, and inspire project teams through strong and inclusive leadership.

Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and specialist advisors to ensure successful project delivery.

Develop innovative design solutions that respond to client, site, environmental, and contextual requirements.

Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development and new opportunities.

Lead and contribute to bids, proposals, and client presentations.

Ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Review project outputs, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement in design quality and delivery.

Work closely with the Studio Lead to support team development, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the growth of the Glasgow practice.

About you

RIBA Part 3 qualified and ARB registered Architect.

Significant experience delivering complex architectural projects across multiple sectors and project stages.

Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, construction methodologies, and technical design.

Proven ability to lead projects from concept through planning, technical design, construction, and completion.

Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, and client relationships.

Strong mentoring and leadership skills with experience supporting the development of junior team members.

Experience gained across a variety of sectors, working closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams.

Experience within Education, Healthcare, Defence, Residential, and Public Sector projects is preferred.

Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and visualisation software such as Enscape or V-Ray.

Commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets, programmes, and deliverables.

Collaborative, proactive, and design-focused professional committed to delivering high-quality and innovative architectural solutions.

Accredited Conservation Architect status would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Proven track record in business development, bid leadership, and securing new work.
