About You and this Role

Dow has an opening for a Senior Asset Engineer supporting the Maintenance Organization in Freeport, TX.

Serves as the analytical and systems backbone of maintenance, ensuring decisions, strategies, and operations are optimized for reliability, cost, and performance. Provides maintenance expertise to the zone and facility while technically mentoring people within the organization.

Owns site improvement and productivity, the preventive maintenance approach and frequency, the itemized activity budget, and equipment and turnaround strategy. Leads maintenance networks, strategic asset utilization improvements, and unplanned event root cause investigations, serving as backup for the maintenance leader.

Responsibilities

  • Provide maintenance and reliability expertise to the site, including technical support for complex equipment issues, major repairs, and production-impacting reliability events.
  • Serve as the Reliability Project Representative on capital and improvement projects.
  • Provide technical mentorship to others within the organization
  • Lead reliability activities for turnarounds, including FEL support, scope challenge, risk assessment, equipment strategy alignment, critical equipment refurbishment, and post-turnaround validation.
  • Develop and maintain Equipment Reliability Strategies aligned with critical equipment priorities, business objectives, and asset reliability goals.
  • Provide technical expertise to plant and/or Maintenance Personnel on troubleshooting equipment problems to assist in resolution or repair scope development. Focuses on reliability issues and not firefighting issues.
  • Manage and optimize preventive maintenance programs and systems to improve productivity, asset reliability, and equipment performance.
  • Facilitate facility condition assessments and plant health studies, implementing corrective actions that enhance asset reliability and plant health.
  • Apply reliability engineering tools and methodologies, including Weibull Analysis, RCI, and FMEA, to improve Asset Capability (AC) and Asset Mechanical Reliability (AMR).
  • Lead site-level response to unplanned events, including root cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Monitor maintenance performance metrics and drive strategic improvements in asset utilization and reliability.
  • Provide technical mentorship, lead maintenance knowledge-sharing networks, and support skill development across the organization.
  • Review and approve maintenance plan modifications and material code changes.
  • Partner with the business to execute site turnaround strategy and serve as backup for maintenance leadership roles when required.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to Expertise Support Technicians (ESTs), Operations, and other maintenance stakeholders.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering (chemical or mechanical engineering discipline is highly preferred).

A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Ability to safely work in a plant environment, meet physical demands, work at elevated heights, and comfortably use PPE and safety equipment (including harnesses with a total maximum weight capacity of 300lbs and respirator/SCBA use). Must be familiar with or open to training on proper equipment usage.

A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
