Job Description:
Position Summary
The Senior Consultant is responsible for ensuring the efficient, compliant, and effective operations of an unrelated entity in India. This role provides leadership across operational functions, including org finance (including but not limited to grants management, procurement, compliance, and payroll), HR, information technology, legal, and other operations teams.
Working closely with RMI US and vendors, the Senior Consultant ensures that organizational systems, policies, and processes are effectively implemented locally while maintaining compliance with local regulatory requirements and client/donor obligations. The position plays a critical role in supporting organizational growth, operational excellence, governance, and mission delivery.
The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative and solutions-oriented professional with experience managing operations in India, and navigating complex cross-functional relationships.
This one year termed position is based in India , and will be expected to start in November 2026 .
Key Responsibilities
Operational Coordination
Act as a primary point of contact and country-based project manager to operationalize an entity in India.
Act as the primary liaison with key funders and with CPA/Accounting partner on budgeting, forecasting, expense management, financial reporting, audits, payroll, and internal controls as needed.
Work with Information Technology vendor to support technology deployment, cybersecurity requirements, user access management, and employee technology needs, as applicable.
Collaborate on funder management to support proposal development, grant setup, budget monitoring, reporting requirements, and donor compliance.
Coordinate on contracts, policies, and operational compliance requirements, as applicable.
Service Contracts and Reporting
Support implementation and administration of service agreements in accordance with funder requirements and organizational policies.
Monitor budgets, reporting deadlines, and compliance obligations.
Ensure operational systems and documentation support audits, reporting, and organizational accountability.
Assist with subaward administration, consultant agreements, and contractor compliance where applicable.
Financial and Administrative Management
Support annual budgeting, operational planning, and financial monitoring processes. Review and monitor operational expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets and funder restrictions.
Coordinate invoice processing, vendor payments, procurement activities, and contract / vendor management.
Prepare operational and financial reports for leadership.
Monitor operational metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Administration
Manage day-to-day operational activities to ensure effective business continuity and organizational performance.
Serve as the primary operational point of contact.
Monitor operational risks and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Coordinate facilities, vendor relationships, and local service providers.
Support organizational planning and execution of strategic and operational priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
5-7+ years of relevant experience in operations or financial management, portfolio management, consulting, or similar roles. Experience in both for-profit and nonprofit environments desired.
Experience managing complex portfolios and multi-million-dollar budgets
Background leading and developing high-performing teams
Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate strategy into execution
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including working with executive level leadership
Strong problem-solving capabilities
Experience supporting international organizations, NGOs, nonprofit international entities, or multinational organizations.
Demonstrated experience working across HR, Finance, IT, Legal, and other functions.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with a variety of funding environments
International and cross-cultural experience
Experience designing or improving operational systems and processes at scale and across departments
Background in operations strategy, or organizational transformation
Experience supporting and partnering with country offices or affiliated organizations.
