The Senior SQL Server/BI Analytics Engineer develops, maintains, and optimizes the company's database, reporting, and business intelligence environment. This position supports reliable data and reporting through SQL Server development, SSRS reporting, database performance optimization, data integration, and business intelligence solutions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain SSRS reports and sub-reports to provide accurate, efficient, and user-friendly reporting solutions.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain SQL scripts, queries, views, stored procedures, and functions to support performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Implement, maintain, and monitor SQL Server Agent jobs and other scheduled automation processes.
  • Monitor SQL Server performance and perform indexing, query tuning, troubleshooting, and other database optimization activities.
  • Support data quality, integrity, governance, and security practices to help ensure accurate and reliable reporting.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and other stakeholders to identify reporting and analytics requirements and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Participate in data modeling, ETL development, data integration, and business intelligence solution design.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database objects, reporting solutions, processes, and related technical procedures.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to other team members and contribute to knowledge sharing and development of best practices.
  • Evaluate SQL Server, business intelligence, and related technology trends and recommend improvements to systems and processes.
  • Troubleshoot database, reporting, and data-related issues and coordinate resolution as needed.
  • Support business intelligence visualization tools and related reporting platforms.
  • Assist with special projects, system enhancements, and other Information Technology initiatives as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, database development, and database administration.
  • Strong knowledge of SSRS report development, including parameterized reports, drill-through functionality, and complex sub-reports.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and optimize complex SQL queries, views, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes, data integration, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality, and database security best practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and reporting solutions to employees with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of business intelligence and data visualization tools.
  • Experience with Domo or similar business intelligence platforms preferred.
  • Knowledge of SSIS, Azure Data Services, cloud-based SQL platforms, Agile methodologies, machine learning, or advanced analytics preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in SQL Server development, database administration, business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field.
  • Experience developing and maintaining SSRS reports.
  • Experience managing SQL Server Agent jobs and scheduled automation processes.
  • Experience with ETL, data integration, and data warehousing.
  • Microsoft SQL Server or related technical certifications preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand, walk, and/or sit for eight (8) hours a day.
  • Communicate effectively, verbally, written, in person, via telephone, or electronically.
  • Lift and maneuver up to 20 lbs.
