Position Summary
The Senior Tax Consultant plays a key role in executing complex Transaction Tax consulting projects, including overpayment/audit reviews, tax research, and client reporting. This role requires advanced analytical skills, tax knowledge, and the ability to work independently while mentoring junior staff. The Senior Tax Consultant contributes to project delivery, client communication, and process improvement initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead portions of transaction tax reviews, including reconciliation and taxability analysis.
Perform advanced tax research and provide written recommendations.
Review and validate vendor invoices and supporting documentation.
Analyze data using Excel and internal tax software tools.
Prepare client deliverables including refund claims and audit findings.
Communicate with vendors and taxing authorities for issue resolution and follow-up.
Support project documentation and implementation processes.
Mentor Associate and Tax Consultants, providing guidance and feedback.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
2-4 years of experience in tax consulting, accrual analysis, or related areas.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP systems and tax engines.
Strong knowledge of multi-state tax laws and compliance requirements.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects and mentor team members.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work Schedule: Regular, 40 hours/week
Travel: Less than 10%
Physical Activity:
Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use
Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and sounds
Frequent repetitive motions with hands
