As a Shop Assistant, you'll be key to our mission to enrich lives and strengthen communities. You'll help create a welcoming retail experience for our customers while supporting our staff and volunteers to keep the shop running smoothly.

Be welcomed into a compassionate, respectful and purpose-driven community where we don't just talk about values - we live them.

Your opportunity

As our Shop Assistant, you'll support the day-to-day operation of the retail store, with great customer engagement at the heart of what you do.

Working alongside the Shop Manager, team members and volunteers, you'll help keep the store welcoming, safe and well presented while supporting sales, stock and merchandising activities. There may also be opportunities to support other Anglicare shop locations, subject to availability.

With integrity and resilience, you will:

  • Deliver excellent customer service and create a welcoming shopping experience.
  • Keep the store looking its best through merchandising, cleaning and stock rotation.
  • Assist with pricing, sales, cash handling and accurate retail transactions.
  • Support and supervise volunteers as they contribute to the day-to-day running of the shop.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for customers, volunteers and colleagues.

What you'll bring

You're a friendly and customer-focused team member who enjoys working with people and getting involved in a busy retail environment.

You bring great communication skills, a practical approach and a willingness to help wherever needed. You also share our organisational values of integrity, justice, compassion and excellence, embedding them in everything you do.

What's required:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of customers and volunteers.
  • Well-developed numeracy skills and basic computer literacy.
  • Understanding of safe manual handling procedures.
  • Ability to support and promote Anglicare's Christian mission and vision.

What's preferred:

  • Previous experience in a fast-paced retail or hospitality environment.
  • Experience supporting or working alongside volunteers.
